Inburgering Reading Practice Questions

The reading exam is not about translating every word. It is about recognising practical information in letters, emails, notices, schedules, and simple public texts.

Key points

  • Practise scanning for dates, times, places, prices, and required actions.
  • Review answer choices that sound similar but mean something different.
  • Build speed by repeating realistic short-text scenarios.

Common reading question types

  • A message from school or work asking you to do something.
  • A gemeente letter with an appointment, document, or deadline.
  • A transport notice with a time, route, delay, or platform.
  • A simple advertisement or shop message with price and opening hours.

Best practice strategy

Read the question first, then scan the text for the exact information. If two answers look possible, choose the answer that matches the full sentence, not only one familiar word.

Sample question ideas

  • Sample text: Uw afspraak is op dinsdag om 10.30 uur. Neem uw identiteitsbewijs en de brief mee. Question idea: What should you bring? Answer: your ID and the letter.
  • Sample text: De winkel is zaterdag open van 09.00 tot 17.00 uur. Op zondag is de winkel gesloten. Question idea: Can you go on Sunday? Answer: no, the shop is closed.

Simple practice routine

  1. Do one short reading set.
  2. Find the sentence that proves each correct answer.
  3. Write down three useful words from the text.
  4. Repeat with a new scenario type.
