Inburgering Speaking Picture Description: Simple A2 Sentences
Picture descriptions become easier when you follow a simple order: place, people, action, details, and one opinion.
Key points
- Start with what you can see clearly instead of guessing too much.
- Use short A2 sentences with people, actions, and place words.
- A complete simple answer is stronger than a long risky answer.
A simple picture structure
For a speaking picture task, do not wait for a perfect sentence. Start with the general situation, then add two or three details.
A safe order is: where the picture is, who is in the picture, what they are doing, and one extra detail such as weather, clothes, or mood.
Useful sentence starters
- Op de foto zie ik ...
- De mensen zijn in ...
- De man/vrouw/kinderen doen ...
- Links/rechts zie ik ...
- Ik denk dat het ... is.
What to practise
Practise common daily-life pictures: a family at home, people in a shop, someone at work, a school situation, a doctor appointment, or people travelling.
Common mistakes
- Only naming objects and not saying what people are doing.
- Using English word order inside Dutch sentences.
- Stopping after one sentence even when more details are visible.
Simple practice plan
- Choose one picture and speak for 30 seconds.
- Use three sentence starters from the list.
- Listen back and check if the answer has place, people, and action.
- Repeat once with one extra detail.
